In 1942, during World War II, Klaus's village was bombed by Allied forces. Klaus was playing in the street when a bomb exploded near him. He was seriously injured, losing both of his legs and his right arm.

Klaus spent the next several years in the hospital, where he underwent multiple surgeries. He was fitted with prosthetic legs and an artificial arm, but he never gave up hope.

In 1948, Klaus was invited to visit the United States by the Shriners, a fraternal organization that supports children's hospitals. He spent several months in the US, where he received medical care and met with other children who had lost limbs.

Klaus's trip to the US was a turning point in his life. He returned to Germany a more confident and determined child. He went on to finish school and university, and he became a successful businessman.

Klaus never forgot the Shriners who helped him. He became a lifelong supporter of the organization, and he often spoke about the importance of giving back to others.

Klaus Carl passed away in 2018 at the age of 80. He was a remarkable man who overcame adversity with courage and resilience. His story is an inspiration to us all.

Legacy

Klaus Carl's legacy lives on through the many people he helped throughout his life. He was a generous donor to the Shriners, and he also supported other organizations that help children with disabilities.

Klaus's story is also a reminder of the importance of perseverance. No matter what challenges we face in life, we should never give up hope.

Awards and Honors

Klaus Carl received numerous awards and honors for his work with children with disabilities. In 1998, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, one of the country's highest honors.

In 2002, Klaus was inducted into the International Paralympic Hall of Fame. He was also the recipient of the Shriners Humanitarian Award.
