In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, Smith shared his thoughts on a wide range of topics, including racism, protest corruption, and the "seven dirty cops" who he believes are responsible for much of the corruption within the police department.

Racism in Law Enforcement

Smith acknowledged that racism is a pervasive problem within law enforcement. He said that he has seen officers use racial slurs, make racist jokes, and target people of color for traffic stops and other minor offenses.

"Racism is a cancer that has infected our profession," Smith said. "It's a stain on our badge and it's something that we need to root out."

Smith said that he has tried to address racism within his own department by implementing diversity training and hiring more officers of color. However, he admitted that there is still much more work to be done.

"We need to do a better job of recruiting and retaining officers of color," Smith said. "We need to create a more inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and respected."

Protest Corruption

Smith also spoke out about the corruption that he has seen within the protest movement. He said that he has witnessed protesters using violence and intimidation to silence opposing voices.

"The protest movement has been hijacked by a small group of extremists who are more interested in causing chaos than in achieving real change," Smith said. "They are using violence and intimidation to silence anyone who disagrees with them."

Smith said that he believes that the vast majority of protesters are peaceful and law-abiding. However, he said that the actions of a few bad actors are tarnishing the reputation of the entire movement.

"We need to do a better job of holding these extremists accountable," Smith said. "We need to make it clear that violence and intimidation will not be tolerated."

The "Seven Dirty Cops"

Smith also spoke about the "seven dirty cops" who he believes are responsible for much of the corruption within the police department. He said that these officers have engaged in a wide range of misconduct, including planting evidence, falsifying reports, and using excessive force.

"These seven dirty cops are a disgrace to the badge," Smith said. "They have undermined the public's trust in law enforcement and they need to be held accountable."

Smith said that he has tried to fire these officers, but he has been unsuccessful due to the strong union protections that they enjoy. He said that he is now working with the state attorney general's office to investigate these officers and bring them to justice.

"I am determined to get these dirty cops off the force," Smith said. "They have no place in law enforcement and they need to be held accountable for their crimes."

Veteran police chief James Smith has spoken out about the systemic issues within law enforcement. He has acknowledged that racism is a pervasive problem within the profession and that the protest movement has been hijacked by a small group of extremists. He has also identified seven dirty cops who he believes are responsible for much of the corruption within the police department.

Smith's outspokenness is a refreshing change from the silence that has often characterized law enforcement's response to criticism. He is using his platform to speak out against the injustices that he has seen and to call for change.

Smith's words are a reminder that there are still good people within law enforcement who are committed to serving and protecting their communities. He is a beacon of hope for those who believe that change is possible.
