Born into a wealthy family in New York City in 1858, Theodore Roosevelt suffered from severe asthma as a child. Determined to overcome his physical limitations, he embraced an active lifestyle and developed a lifelong love of nature. He attended Harvard University, where he excelled in his studies and distinguished himself as a boxing champion.
The Rough Riders
Roosevelt's adventurous spirit led him to Cuba during the Spanish-American War, where he organized and led the famed Rough Riders, a volunteer cavalry regiment. His bravery and leadership during the Battle of San Juan Hill earned him national recognition and cemented his reputation as a fearless warrior.

He established the National Park Service and significantly expanded the nation's forest reserves, earning him the title of "Father of Conservation."
